The Word

For my word i have chosen the word 'active'.
I think the word 'active' represents Adidas in multiple ways and i have chosen it for that very reason. The company itself is active in the sense that it is continually innovating its product range and company aesthetics, it is continually competing with other world leading companies such as Nike and Puma. Adidas sponsors teams, clubs and events all over the world therefore having an active role in their future. One event in particular that Adidas has an active role in is up and coming 2011 Rugby World Cup also sponsoring our home team 'the All Blacks.' As a sportswear brand, being 'active' is what sports is all about. Adidas is known for its wear that promotes physical activity and being 'active' in every sense of the word. As a grid I have chosen to use typical everyday 'active' equipment; a tennis racket and dumbbells. while using shoe laces as my thread as Adidas itself was originally purely a shoe company.

The Letter

My letter to Adidas express my view of the company as an active global leader in sportswear that need to reconsider ethics and use of sweatshops and their high end pricing.
The design layout is fairly obviously written in the shape of the Adidas logo. The letter reads from top to bottom, section by section. The letter is written in a way that personifies Adidas and shows my love of the brand and insight into the changes that I beleive should be made.

The Poster

The poster is pointedly comparing well branded global empire that Adidas represents and the small unknown poorly branded sportswear company Active Intent. Adidas is portrayed through a stencil type image of multiple rugby players dominating the image, containing Adidas's secondary logo and various words communicating the positive outlook on the company such as Innovative, Dominating, Popular. While Active Intent is portrayed by an outlying lone figure containing simply Cheap and Affordable as positive outlooks. the various negative outlooks on both companies are littered around the respective images. The 'In Situation' photo below shows the poster in the Rebel Sport entrance where both Adidas and rival Nike have been put on display.

The Poster - Precedents and Concepts

'Precedent Image'
This I feel is a strong image. I liked the use of simple colours and imagery and the words inside the image coming together to create a aesthetically pleasing image. I feel this could be used well in creating a poster that can portray Adidas and its opposing company as I want them to be displayed.
'First Concept'                                             'Rendered Concept'
These are just my first few basic ideas that relate it context to my precedent image.
I have not yet considered the opposing company and need to incorporate this into future images.
'Concept with opposing stance'
'Adidas vs Active Intent'
'Leader in Sports Wear vs Who?'
This is just my first sort of comparison of my two companies; Big global Adidas against not so well known Active Intent. I think I will take this image and develop it, adjusting the colour and aesthetic till I see fit.

Group Work - Video

Our Brand. 'Conflict Records'
Slogan. 'Liberating Music'
this recording company is starting out,  we're supporting artists that are starting out too, to get their music out there (liberating their music). Our video's showing the birds representing the liberation of the artists' music, and the birds are fighting and the wings coming together shows how conflict records supports various genres of music.

May 16th - Studio - Group Work

Our Brand. 'Conflict Records'
Slogan. 'Liberating Music'
After getting the name 'Conflict Records' we decided the company was going to be a small recording company that gives customers the freedom to record anything the like, a company that appreciates conflicting and controvertial music. We wanted a simple logo; 'CR' for 'Conflict Records', the black and grey design represents the contrast and conflict between freedom and not. Representing birds wings, the dove (grey) and the raven (black), we feel we've managed to create a simple but very simbolic logo and expressess the companies stance.

Oliver Lodge DSDN101 P2 The Clip

I am very pleased with my final clip, the amount of time I spent on each individual drawing I think has payed off. The transitions are smooth and it clearly portrays my intentions of showing an idea communicated/given to the world.

As a universal icon representing an 'Idea' the lightbulb early in the video is put into the box and creatively mass produced and shared with the people in a cheerful and happy way. Originally the music overlay seemed slightly darker and didn't seem to fit so well, so in the end I scrapped that and started creatung a new track. The Final outcome I think fits perfectly with the video in portraying 'Mass Production' as a positive way of communicating ideas.

Oliver Lodge DSDN101 P2 Storyboard

My storyboard I think is a a good portrayal of my stop motion as I have used the same drawing techniques and I think it is aestheticaly pleasing and Complements the ideas I'm trying to portray. You can obviously see the main points and i think you can get a pretty acurate grasp on how the video will flow. No information is display as i've gone for a more aesthetic arty storyboard.

Oliver Lodge DSDN101 P2 Mindmaps/Brainstorming

These are my original brainstorms looking into the differnt areas of industrial design and then into mass production and the way it reproduces. I was attracted to mass production as the idea of reproducing a product or idea and being able to share it with the world was one of the main reasons I got into design in the first place.
The slogan I came up with was, "Mass production; communicating ideas to the world."

When I looked at mass production and some of the relating images, I found that most of them were of the products, they had order and all completely idetical. Many images were of conveyor belts and movement around the workshops. Both ideas I thought would be constructive to portray in a stop motion.\

Story Board - New Idea

With this idea i wanted to create something which i would be able to have some fun with, create a cartooney type story... yet still show my theme.

Trials - Stop motion

Here is what i been mucking around looking at, stop motion. just had a play around looking at different ways of transforming the picture, nothing too exciting. this ones a bit longer than 2 seconds. but it shows i can use the program.

Storyboard - Industrial Design - Mass Production

After Brainstorming I have decided to base my Stop Motion Video on Mass Production and how ideas, however simple or complex they are can be mass produced a shared with the world

Project 2 - Video Clip - The Brainstorm

For this project ill be looking at the industrial design. I have brainstormed various aspects of the idea of design in industry. Below are my brainstorms.
